ACLS Welcomes Absecon Library

On October 1, 2021, the Absecon Library joined the Atlantic County Library System (ACLS) as its tenth branch.

The Absecon Library, located at 305 New Jersey Avenue, will provide improved technology and resources with the addition of new computers, scanners, public copiers, printers and a fax machine.

Absecon Library card holders may visit any ACLS branch to obtain a new ACLS card and access to all ACLS services, including the complete collection of physical materials, eBooks and eAudiobooks, as well as online databases and digital media.

The Absecon Library card number will continue to provide access to Overdrive, South Jersey Audiobook and eBook Download Center through the end of 2021, but the sooner patrons upgrade to an ACLS card, the sooner they will enjoy access to a larger selection of titles and eMagazines.

The Absecon Branch hours will be 9:30 AM to 5 PM on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and 12 noon to 8 PM on Tuesday and Thursday.

The county library system card is an all-access pass to any of its 10 branch locations.

Welcome. Bienvenido. Witaj. Huānyíng. Swagat hai.

April 4-10, 2021 is National Library Week, a time to highlight the essential role libraries, librarians and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening communities. The theme for this year’s National Library Week is “Welcome to your library,” which promotes the idea that libraries extend far beyond the four walls of a building and that everyone is welcome to use their services. Whether people visit virtually or in person, libraries are accessible and inclusive places that foster a sense of belonging and community through learning, discovery and exploration.

During these challenging times, libraries have been going above and beyond to adapt to our changing world by expanding their resources and continuing to meet the needs of their patrons. Libraries across the country are making a difference in people’s lives by providing electronic learning resources like online homework help and supporting the community with virtual services.

This week, the Atlantic County Library System encourages all community members to explore our website and access our virtual services and programs. ACLS offers a wide array of online resources that are available from the comfort of home, including downloadable books, audiobooks, magazines, music, & videos, online databases, and YouTube storytime, crafts and STEM videos.

Show your appreciation and support for libraries by visiting the ACLS, American Library Association, and I Love Libraries websites and social media pages. Follow along and post on social media using the hashtags #NationalLibraryWeek #LibrariesTransform #ACLSWelcome.

eMagazines on the Move

Zinio eMagazines, previously available through RBdigital, has moved to OverDrive!

ACLS patrons can read our 3,000+ digital magazines alongside eBooks and eAudiobooks on Libby, the one-tap reading app from OverDrive, or by visiting the South Jersey Audiobook and eBook Download Center on a browser. eMagazines will remain available in the RBdigital app and website through the end of January 2021.

The Libby app seamlessly connects first-time users and experienced readers with our OverDrive digital collections. If you are not already using the Libby to read or listen to eBooks and eAudiobooks, download it free from your device’s app store. If you are currently using the Overdrive app, don't worry, Libby will give you access to your current checkout and holds as well as all the titles in the South Jersey Audiobook and eBook Download Center collection.

Take the time to meet Libby now so you can enjoy downloadable magazines later.
