How to Use Online Resources

In today’s library world, most newspaper/magazine articles, and many reference sources are available online rather than from books. They are found in searchable databases and eBooks that the library buys subscriptions to. These copyrighted databases are not freely available on the Internet, you need a library card to access them. They are not considered Internet sources (like Wikipedia, Google, etc).

Here is a list of eBooks, reference databases, magazine/journal/newspaper databases and other electronic resources that we purchase or subscribe to for our library customers:

If you used any of these to retrieve an article or information, you were NOT using a free Internet source.

If you used Wikipedia, Google, Yahoo, or other search engine to find the material, you WERE using an Internet source.

PLEASE CONSULT the Atlantic County Library System Reference Center if you have any questions, 609-625-2776 or 609-646-8699 x6310.
