The library is home to thousands of historic documents. Thanks, in part, to grants from the New Jersey State Library, we are bringing many new documents to our website.
Egg Harbor City and the German-American Experience We have indexed thousands of documents and old photographs as part of our joint project with the Egg Harbor City Historical Society. This New Jersey State Library grant project continues to explore the rich and varied experiences of Atlantic County's German settlers and their survivors.
Newspapers We have over 5,000 newspapers in our digitized collection. While the main focus of the early papers tends to concentrate on Atlantic County happenings, national news was usually covered on inside pages. The papers date from 1860 - 1923.
Immigration Records We have thousands of immigration records (declarations of intention and correspondence) from 1850-1930 that we are indexing and posting to our website.
Civil War-era Records As we work through the documents, we are discovering wonderful treasures - such as "mustered out" records of Atlantic County's US Civil War Veterans. This section also includes links to Civil War-era newspapers.
Wills, Orphans Court, Letters of Administration We have digitized images of many wills and other documents that were recorded in the Atlantic County Clerk and Surrogate's offices. Some items date back to pre-Civil War.
