Immigration Records
We have thousands of immigration records (declarations of intention and correspondence) from 1850-1930 that we are indexing and posting to our website. Most records so far are declarations of intention. The declaration provides background on immigrants and required the immigrant to renounce forever allegiance to the government of their native homeland. The database is indexed by last name. This is an ongoing project, and we have many more records to index. There are 2,600 records indexed so far.
Search the Immigration Database

The database is indexed by last name. The original records are old, and mostly in the handwriting of the Atlantic County Surrogate or Clerk. Some handwriting is not as legible as we would like.

We suggest you be creative in your search. For example, to find a person with the last name of Della Noce, you could enter Della or Della Noce or Noce in the search box, below. Either entry will generate the same result. Keep in mind the database is sensitive to spaces. Using the above example, DellaNoce would not generate any results. In this case, the space must be included. If you don't get results one way, try a variation on the spelling.
