The New Jersey State Library awarded Atlantic County Library System and the Egg Harbor City Historical Society a grant to examine the German immigrant experience of Egg Harbor City, NJ. The grant was used to digitize and index many old photographs and documents. To date, over 600 photographs, an 1862 property tax ledger book, and nearly 2,000 US Immigration and Naturalization Records are indexed and accessible on the New Jersey Digital Highway.
The New Jersey Digital Highway (NJDH) is a new way to explore our state's history and culture. NJDH is a collaboration of the state's libraries, museums, archives and historical societies to provide a "one stop shop" for New Jersey's cultural treasures-photographs, books, documents, three-dimensional objects, video and audio.
A search portal was developed by the NJDH developers at Rutgers University. This search portal allows the web patron to search NJDH from within the Atlantic County Library's web site. Ample opportuinities are also provided to search NJDH for other treasures found in the statewide collection.
