Atlantic County Library System's Brigantine branch recently hosted a slideshow and lecture by historian Nelson Johnson, author of the New York Times bestseller, Boardwalk Empire. Boardwalk Empire is now in its third season as a runaway hit TV series on HBO. The event was a huge success, with over 90 people in attendance. Mr. Johnson is a longtime supporter of public libraries. He shared with the crowd that he has been a library card holder since the tender age of 4! Mr. Johnson resides in Hammonton, NJ. We were also graced with the attendance of Anthony Laciura, the actor who portrays “Eddie Kessler” in the series; as well as Jamie Satz of Brigantine, the granddaughter of Louis Kessel (upon whom “Eddie Kessler” is based).
